Geometry, texture and resolution: inside a 4D skin
On Skins4d, a 4D skin combines custom geometry with a texture. The community term 4D describes these models, not a fourth dimension or an official Minecraft format.
Geometry defines the shape
The geometry JSON contains the model cubes, bones, pivots and rotations. It allows volume beyond the usual player silhouette. A texture alone does not contain that shape: keep the matching geometry file.
The PNG defines the appearance
A texture lays out colors and details on a flat image. UV coordinates in the geometry map each face to a region of that image. A texture from another model may load successfully while putting eyes, clothing or hair in the wrong places.
32, 64 or 128 pixels
The actual PNG resolution can differ from the texture dimensions declared in the geometry. The renderer must account for that ratio when applying UV coordinates. Enlarging a 64-pixel image to 128 pixels does not create new detail or make it compatible with a different geometry.
Thumbnail and download
The thumbnail is a static image that helps you recognize the model in the catalog. It does not include animations. The .mcaddon download combines the resources and selector system for Bedrock; it is not a Java Edition pack.
